'ART AS A PORTAL TO THE SOUL'

When words fail, art speaks. Whether it’s painting, music, poetry, dance, or any creative act, art becomes a mirror, reflecting our inner landscapes — the fears we dare not speak, the dreams we’ve tucked away, the truths we haven’t yet found the courage to name. Through art, the soul finds expression without the filters of logic or expectation.

Carmen's current work is inspired by the ancient journey mapped in the Tarot's Major Arcana - a path known as 'The Fools Journey'. It's the story of all of us, told through timeless archetypal imagery and symbols. Each card speaks of a stage of transformation, a mirror held up to the psyche as we navigate the terrain of life.

Every piece begins with research - diving deep into the symbolism, mythology, and historical references and modern interpretations to reflect the Universal truths that transcend time. The sculptures are first modeled in clay then a mold is made. The pieces are then cast in either Bronze, Cold Cast Bronze or Jesmonite.

These are not just decorative objects - they are visual meditations, ritual tools, and threshold guardians. They belong in sacred spaces, creative studios, therapy rooms, and in the quiet corners of those walking the inner path.

She sees her work as dream-weaving - a tactile expression of inner landscapes. Her intention is to offer art that helps others remember: who they are, where they are on their path, and the symbols that have always been guiding them.

Carmen’s work serves as a bridge between the aesthetic and the emotional, the public and the personal. She has exhibited her pieces in local galleries and at pop-up creative events and artisan shows, where her art connects with a wide and varied audience. But Carmen’s creative expression goes far beyond the conventional spaces of art display.

She has brought her vision into the heart of the community — designing and creating a large fountain for a local hospice, offering a moment of beauty and tranquility to those navigating grief and transition. Her work also graces the environment of a dentist’s clinic, transforming clinical space into one of calm and visual interest.

Through these projects, Carmen demonstrates that art is not confined to frames or pedestals — it can flow, quite literally, into places of care, healing, and daily life. Whether on a gallery wall or as a centerpiece in a public setting, her work becomes a quiet portal — inviting reflection, connection, and a deeper sense of presence.
